Casa del Cinguettio is a recently restored, authentic Umbrian stone farmhouse with stunning views over the Spoleto valley.

The house nestles amongst terraced olive groves, in Campello Alto, below the 10th century castle built in 921AD by Rovero of Champeuse, the Baron of Burgundy, with Spoleto visible across the valley and takes its name from the only sound that you will hear in this idyllic setting – Birdsong. The house is not remote but feels completely private.

Casa del Cinguettio offers the chance to spend time in an authentic rural umbrian house with a stunning interior, while taking the opportunity to explore and discover the delights of the surrounding area.

The 17th century house was in ruins and had been unoccupied for many years when I discovered it.

Then began a 3 year program of complete restoration, working in collaboration with two very talented local architects.

It is of traditional Umbrian construction with chestnut beams, terracotta roof tiles, shutters and travertine and terracotta floor tiles. Restoration of the house was completed in 2008.

There is a large and beautiful pool built into the hill terraces below the house, amongst the olive groves, with areas for sunbathing and outside eating. The pool is not overlooked.

Throughout the grounds are many quiet places to sit and read or relax.
